Subject: Chemistry Software Site

Site: File Transfer Protocal (ftp)

URL: ftp://kekule.osc.edu/pub/chemistry/software

Level: High school educators, university undergraduates and above

The Resource: This resource contains a number of chemistry related programs
for many different operating systems. You can get programs for the
operating systems MS-DOS, MS-WINDOWS, OS-2, PEARL, MAC, SUN, and UNIX.
These programs can be very helpful to someone in a chemistry based
field. These applications can help you enhance reports, your grades,
and your understanding of the subject area which the application
applies to. Of the operating systems listed above I thought that the
MS-DOS and MS-WINDOWS sites were by far the best two. Some of the
programs are repeated for both DOS and WINDOWS, so this gives the user
the choice of which operating system he prefers. Some of the programs
which are in these sites are listed below:
Boiling Point
Chemistry Icon Library
MolecModelling for Windows
Periodic Tables
pKa, logP, logD Demos
SI units of conversion for windows
Titration simulator for Windows
Graph paper for windows
These are just a few of the many which are available for the user to
download.

Review: This is one of the best sites for chemistry related software
that I have found to date. It contains software on most types
of chemistry. The programs can help the student make neater and nicer
looking presentation on the home computer. This site could also be
beneficial for as a teachers aid when instructing on a subject area
in chemistry.
