         Purpose:

         BALTUVA is a list focusing on issues and questions of concern
         to observant Jews. The name of the list is derived from "Baal
         t'shuva" which is often used to refer to "newly religious"
         Jews. The list is not restricted to this group however -
         please feel free to post to the list whether or not you
         consider yourself to be a "baal t'shuva".
