         Purpose:


         ASHKENAZ is an unmoderated e-mail discussion list for
         graduate students and recent recipients of the Ph.D. in
         Yiddish and Ashkenazic studies, and for faculty members
         working with graduate students in this emerging
         interdiscipline. Open to subscribers of any theoretical
         persuasion, disciplinary commitment, and institutional
         affiliation, ASHKENAZ is facilitated by graduate students
         and faculty of the Yiddish Program at The Ohio State
         University.
